The Municipality of Murrysville is accepting applications for a temporary Construction Inspector to assist the Murrysville Engineering Department with various construction projects throughout Murrysville.  The applicant must be knowledgeable in Microsoft Excel and Word computer programs and prior roadway inspection experience is required.  Applicants must be at least 18 years old, available for work for five work days per week, with work hours coinciding with road projects.  Applicants must have a current Pennsylvania driver’s license.  The pay rate is $15.00 per hour with no benefits.  Applications will be accepted through Monday, June 10, 2013, and should be forwarded to the Chief Administrator, Municipality of Murrysville, 4100 Sardis Road, Murrysville, PA  15668.

The local veterans' associations will be conducting ceremonies at the following locations on Monday, May 27 - Memorial Day.  Everyone is welcome to attend!

7:30 a.m.  Branthoover Cutoff Memorial - The Boy Scouts will assist with lowering the American Flag and raising a new one.  An honor roll for those missing in action or killed in the line of duty will be read.

The Municipality of Murrysville’s Government Offices will be closed on Monday, May 27, 2013, in observance of the Memorial Day Holiday.  The offices will re-open on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at 8:00 a.m.

Calling All Community Members!

As Murrysville’s Comprehensive Plan efforts move forward, the Municipality has created a Vision Statement along with accompanying Goals, Objectives and Recommendations/Actions (please click on the link to review the document).  These thoughts will be part of the Municipality’s effort to continue improving the quality of life for its residents and business community over the next decade. 

To ensure these ideas are realistic and reflective of community aspirations, we would appreciate you letting us know what you think.  The Municipality will be hosting a public meeting on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at 6:30 p.m. at the Municipal Building, 4100 Sardis Road, Murrysville to give you an opportunity to share your thoughts about what:

1.  Can set Murrysville apart from other places to live; and

2.  Can help make life and business in Murrysville desirable in the years to come.

About the event

All-Day Caching on Saturday, June 1, 2013, with a 5:30 pm Picnic at Townsend Park in Murrysville, PA. This is the 6th year for the event!
All-day geocaching fun for everyone! Food, raffles, hikes and exploration! 5:30 PM picnic. Hot dogs provided by SLAM, additional food donations welcome!

All day local caches may be done at the participant's leisure.
Coordinates will also be available for printing from the Westmoreland Conservancy's cache page.

An all day geocaching event including:
Caches: 6 WC Reserves, 1 private Historic Site, 2 Municipal sites, DHCT (5 caches) 

For a group/cooperative caching experience:
Don Harrison Community Trail 5-Mile Cache Hike from Townsend Park to Walter Reserve. Steep hill down. Allow 3 hours. (arrange for carpooling or pick-up)
Don Harrison Community Trail 5-Mile Cache Hike from Murrysville Dog Park to Townsend Park. 2 Steep hills to climb. Allow 3 hours. West to East Difficulty level: 1.5. Terrain difficulty: 3. East to West Difficulty level: 1.5. Terrain difficulty: 3.5.

6 pm raffle: Must be present to win.
