The Murrysville Planning Commission is appointed by Council as
an advisory board for all matters related to planning and development
in the municipality
Duties
The Planning Commission advises Council, the Mayor and the Planning
Department upon all matters related to planning and development
in the municipality. The Planning Commission shall have the power
and shall be required to:
- Prepare and update the Comprehensive Plan for development of
the municipality
- Prepare and present to Council a zoning ordinance and make recommendations
to Council on proposed amendments
- Prepare and present to Council subdivision and land development
and planned residential development ordinances and make recommendations
to Council on proposed amendments
- Require from other departments and units of the municipality
such available information as relates to the work of the Planning
Commission.
- The Planning Commission, at the request of Council, may: Prepare
and present to Council a building code and a housing code and
make recommendations concerning proposed amendments
- Promote public interest in and understanding of the Comprehensive
Plan and planning.
- Make recommendations to governmental, civic and private agencies
and individuals as to the effectiveness of the proposals of such
agencies and individuals.
Meetings
The Planning Commission meets at the Municipal Building at 7:30
PM on the first and third Tuesdays of the month.
