The Charter states that the executive power of the government of the Municipality of Murrysville shall be vested in the Mayor whose duties shall, in part, be:

1. To preserve order
2. Enforce all ordinances and regulations
3. Appoint the chief administrator and all department directors with the advice and consent of Council
4. Present annual budgets and capital improvement programs to Council
5. Present an annual report on the state of the Municipality to Council and the people
6. Be recognized as the official head of the Municipality for all ceremonial purposes.
