Murrysville Medic One was formed by the merger of Franklin Rescue 4 and Franklin Rescue 5, to provide the primary emergency medical services to the residents and visitors of the Municipality of Murrysville and the Borough of Export. Murrysville Medic One has a combined service area of 45.3 square miles. Our service areas include some major Westmoreland County roadways (Route 380, 286, 66 , and Golden Mile Highway), working farms, Industrial sites, nursing facilities, and family dwellings. Currently we are experiencing a commercial and population growth with new housing developments popping up throughout the municipality.

We also serve 12 parks located throughout the municipality, which includes picnic areas, ball fields, nature trails, and play areas. We also serve Franklin Regional School District
(2-Elementary Schools, Middle School and Senior High School).

Murrysville Medic One provides medical support to 4 volunteer fire departments located throughout our service area.

Currently, Murrysville Medic One operates a fleet of 11 vehicles and an ATV John Deer Gator, which is used for extricating patients from rough-terrain and special event stand bys, such as; 84 Gold Classic, Mario Lemieux Celebrity Golf Tournament, Pittsburgh Senior Citizen Olympics, Pittsburgh Raceway Park, Bushy Run Battlefield Reenactment, and the Murrysville Classic International Cycle Race to name a few.

In 2001, Murrysville Medic 1 completed a little over 1300 runs for the year. It is estimated that over 5000 runs will be completed in 2005.
