“Fencing”


for ages 8 through adult Min: 8 Max: 17

Location: Murrysville Community Center, 3091 Carson Ave.

Fencing Instructional Classes

Fees: $75.00 for 8 classes $30.00 for equipment rental, if needed.

Tuesdays (8 weeks), April - 8 - June 3 (no Apr. 1 and May 6)

Session C: 6:30 – 7:30 PM ages 8 -12 Max: 17

Session D: 7:45 – 8:45 PM ages 13 – adult Max: 17

FREE Open Fencing for registered students from 7 - 9:15 pm

You must have own equipment (jacket, foil and mask) or pay extra for equipment rental.

All classes are designed for beginner, intermediate and advanced students; fencers are divided by age and ability in class. When registering, indicate dominant hand and if you have all of your own equipment or plan to rent.

Fencing is fun and exciting. It develops coordination, strategic thinking and cardiovascular fitness. Classes cover modern swordplay, rules and bouting. Wear comfortable pants and athletic shoes (NO shorts or sandals for safety reasons).

Open Fencing Practice Package for experienced fencers ages 13 and up.

Package Fee: $33.00 per session Equipment rental: $30.00 per session, if you do not own your own equipment.

Tuesdays, Apr. 8 - Jun. 3 (no Apr. 1 and May 6) 7 - 9:15 pm

Fencers who are not registered for class can purchase the Open Fencing Practice Package. Cost includes floor fee for 8 practice sessions (no instruction). Must have own equipment or pay extra for equipment rental. Electrical scoring setup is available.

“Li’l Tots Dance & Tumble”


for ages 2- ½ - 5

An experienced instructor will teach structured movement and tumbling in a safe kid and parent friendly atmosphere. Kids will have a blast as they become more coordinated and confident! Location: Innovative Exercise (located in Dean’s Health and Fitness Center), Village of Murrysville, Route 22.

Day/Time: Wednesday, 11:30am – 12:15pm (4 weeks)

Session A: Apr. 16 - May 7 Fee: $40

Session B: May 14 - June 4 Fee: $40

Session C: Both A and B discount Fee: $65


“Introduction to Horses and Riding”


for ages 10 through adult (weight limit of 160)

Three Monday nights from 6:30 - 8 pm.

Session A: June 23, 30, July 7

Session B: July 28, August 4, 11

Fee: $110.00 Min: 3 Max: 4

Learn to safely enjoy being around horses and to ride. Course teaches the students horse terminology, safety precautions, principles of care, proper grooming technique, and basic horse handling skills and will view a riding demonstration. Students will have hands on experience with horses. The students will be offered introductory riding classes at each session and will help with tacking and untacking the horses. This class is an excellent opportunity for the students to gain experience with horses in a closely supervised setting. The facility has an indoor riding arena so the classes will be held rain or shine. Dress in loose fitting comfortable pants, sturdy boots and if cool weather wear a jacket or sweater. The boots should have a heel that is about ½ inch-1 inch tall and that only has a minimal amount of tread on the sole of the boot (no hiking boots and no sneakers). All riders will use the school’s helmets or can use their own (with approval of instructor). Parents must attend the first ½ hour of the first lesson of youth class.
Location: Gusty Winds Acres Riding School, Salem Township (only 20 minutes from Murrysville; 10 minutes from Delmont). Directions will be sent by e-mail after registration.

“Babysitting Certification Class”


for grades 6 and up

Fee: $45.00 Min: 6 Max: 10

Wednesday, June 25 9:30 am – 3:30 pm

Learn the skills and attitudes to be a responsible babysitter as outlined by the American Red Cross. Course will teach all you need to know and what every parent wants in a competent babysitter, first aid techniques, and information for making decisions to solve real-life problems. Each student will receive a babysitting portfolio, book and certificate. Bring lunch and two drinks.

“Driver Theory Education Program”


for ages 15 and up

Fee: $125.00 Min: 8 Max: 30

Tuesdays and Thursdays (five weeks for 2 days/week)

Session A (Spring): April 22 - May 22 6 – 9 pm

Location: Room 118, Franklin Regional Senior High School, 4121 Sardis Road

Session B: (Summer): June 17 - July 24 (no class on July 1 or 3) 9 am – Noon

Location: Murrysville Council Chambers, 4100 Sardis Road

Getting ready to get your license or just got it? It is important to be a responsible, defensive driver and to know PA regulations. Class instruction uses a variety of techniques to train drivers to adjust to today's driving situations. Student will be issued a "driver education certificate" which is acceptable for insurance discounts at the completion of the course. This course does not include on the road training.

“What About That Car?”


for ages 15 and up Min: 5 Max: 15

Saturday, June 21 9 am – Noon

Get to know about cars! Great class for new and upcoming drivers. Learn what's under the hood; how to check the fluids, belts and hoses; change a tire; identify noises and recognize problems; read an owner's manual; communicate with technicians and read a repair order. Parents, this course may save your car engine or radiator if your teen driver knows what to check and when! (This course is only offered in the summer. It will no longer be offered during the school year.) Instructors: Cody Downes, certified mechanic.

“S.A.T. Math Prep Course” Max: 12

Two day course to be held the weekend before the test offered on June 7

Fee: $100.00 which includes textbook

Sat., May 31 (8 am - 4 pm) and Sun., June 1 (Noon - 4 pm)

This 12-hour course is designed to help improve math scores for PSAT/SAT. Students will review math skills and test-taking reasoning strategies. Using PSAT/SAT practice tests, students will be able to identify problem areas and learn test-taking techniques and decision-making skills regarding which problems to attempt and which to skip to achieve the highest score. Learn to work smarter, not harder. Bring a calculator and a lunch and two drinks for Saturday. Instructor, Ronald R. Rometo, is the former math instructor with Sylvan Learning Center, an adjunct faculty member with WCCC, a private tutor, BA/Math and BS/Engineering.

(registered children 12 and under must have a registered adult with them)

Cost of supplies for each class will depend on personal choices of beads and supplies available. Supply list will be sent by e-mail upon registration. (Approximate cost for each project supplies is $15 - 30 depending on tools needed and supplies chosen)

Hobby Town Classes


“Model Kit Camp”


for ages 8 - 12

Fee: $45.00, includes kit and all needed supplies and tools and tee-shirt

Session A: Mon., Wed., Fri. June 16, 18, 20 9 am - noon

Session B: Mon., Wed., Fri. July 21, 23, 25 9 am - noon

Camper needs no prior experience. Select from one of three pre-selected 1/72nd scale plastic model airplane kits to build, paint and finish and receive step-by-step instruction.

Location: Hobby Town, Monroeville ( west on Route 22 to the traffic light with Spitzer Toyota on your left and Giant Eagle / Roomful Express Plaza on your right (Monroeville Plaza). Bear right at light onto Old William Penn Highway. Turn left at first stop sign into Plaza, Hobby Town will be on your right at the top of the second entrance)


“Rocket Model Camp”


for ages 8 - 12

Fee: $45.00, includes kit, motors and all needed supplies and tools and tee-shirt

Camper will build, paint and finish an Estes flying model rocket. The program includes an introduction to model rocketry and step-by-step instruction. The final day campers will meet at a community park (to be selected) to launch the completed rockets.

Session A: Mon - Thurs.. June 23 - 27 9 am - noon

Session B: Mon - Thurs. . July 28 - 31 9 am - noon

Rain dates for each session are Friday of the same week.

“Craft Camp”


for ages 8 - 12

Fee: $45.00, includes all necessary materials and supplies and tee-shirt

Campers will complete a different craft project each day of the week: Decorate a Room Sign, Paint by Number, Scraper Foil, Ceramic Painting are some of the projects scheduled. All necessary materials, supplies, and supervised instruction are provided.

“Radio Control Helicopter Training”


Beginner class

for ages 12 though adult

A two-day class that provides the knowledge to fly a remote controlled electric helicopter (Efilte CX2 model with two rotor beginner unit). Experience flying a unit with instruction on radio controls, proper procedures and safety precautions.

“Radio Control Nitro Cars and Truck - Tuning and Maintaining”


Beginner Class

for ages 12 through adult

Fee: $15.00

Saturdays, 9 am - noon

Gain basic knowledge how to maintain and tune a nitro-powered car or truck. Instruction given on radio controls, proper use and safety precautions. Try out an R/C vehicle. Bring your own, if you own one.

“Radio Control Plane Training”


Beginner Class

for ages 12 through adult

Fee: 35.00

Saturdays, 9 am - noon

Session A: July 12 and 19

Session B: Aug. 9 and 16

Rain dates are the next day (Sunday)
Two-day class will enable the student to fly remote controlled plane (3-channel, rudder, elevator and throttle). Fly a unit and be given instruction on the radio controls, proper use and safety precautions. Planes: electric ParkZone Cessna 210 or Citabria with 15” wingspan.
